Organizing Local Fundraisers

During this district sharing session, Patty Dellinger (Lincoln SWCD), Sean Trollinger (Guilford SWCD) and Lisa Marochak (Durham SWCD) briefly presented on what their districts do to organize yearly fundraisers (sapling, bird house, berry, rain barrel, geotextile, etc. sales) and what sales support within their districts.

Confidentiality and Closed Sessions

Recent changes in legislation have affected the information that is held confidential by local soil and water conservation districts.  In this training, Kristina Fischer & Josh Vetter with NCDA&CS - DSWC, Patrick McLoughlin with NRCS, and Tien Cheng with NC DOJ provide information on how these changes may impact the way cost share and federal program items are presented to and discussed by district boards.

Supervisor Travel and Annual Paperwork

Allie Dinwiddie provides an overview of annual paperwork and new term paperwork for Supervisors and Staff. Bria Wortham gives an overview of paperwork required for Supervisor reimbursement submittals.

Budget and Fiscal Control Act

Kara Millonzi from the UNC School of Government reviews the Local Government Budget and Fiscal Control Act, and its requirements for districts.

Districts' Legislative Authority

Bryan Evans, Executive Director with the NC Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (NCASWCD) gives an introduction to NC General Statute GS 139.

Administrative Basics

In this training, Helen Wiklund goes over the Master Agreement process and paperwork. Paula Day provides additional information about how to submit technical assistance billing requests.

Organizing and Facilitating Remote Meetings

 During this district sharing session, Dru Harrison (New Hanover SWCD), Mikayla Renn (Wake SWCD), and Jessica Hughes & Jennifer Harrison (Buncombe SWCD) will be briefly presenting on how their districts have adjusted to operating more remotely since March 2020.

Ralston James, DSWC, leads a discussion on how districts can market their programs.
